ADVOCACY

Advocacy has been an important part of the mission of Louisiana Landmarks Society since the inception of the organization. We champion the protection of historic resources at the city, state, and national level. This includes opposition to demolition and neglect, support for investments in cultural heritage, and defending quality of life in older neighborhoods.

 The New Orleans 9

New Orleans’ 9 Most Endangered Places is Louisiana Landmarks Society’s annual advocacy initiative that spotlights historic sites at risk due to neglect, development pressure, environmental threats, or policy decisions. By elevating these places, the program raises public awareness, mobilizes community support, and advances practical solutions to protect the cultural and architectural heritage that defines New Orleans.
