The General Laundry Building, a New Orleans monument to the Art Deco style, receives HDLC landmark designation.

Advocacy update: The General Laundry, Cleaners, and Dyers Building at 2525 Lafitte Ave. was designated as an HDLC landmark on Feb. 1.

General Laundry had been nominated for study as an HDLC landmark in 2017. It was nominated to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 by Louisiana Landmarks Society.

The Art Deco-style building, constructed in 1930, is located in the Parkview Historic District.
