Nominations are now open for the 2023 Awards for Excellence in Historic Preservation. Apply by March 22. (UPDATED)

Louisiana Landmarks Society is now accepting online nominations for the 2023 Awards for Excellence in Historic Preservation. The Awards honor projects completed in 2022 in Orleans Parish, including the French Quarter, that represent outstanding examples of interior preservation, new construction, restoration, and/or rehabilitation in an historic district.

Nominations for the 2023 Awards may be submitted by individuals, companies, or organizations. There is a $100 per project submission fee to enter. Payment may be added on the last page of the nomination form.

The EXTENDED deadline for nominations is Wed., March 22, 2023. 

The awards committee looks for projects that rise to a level of excellence in areas that:

  • Demonstrated that historic preservation could be a tool to revitalize older neighborhoods

  • Showed that historic preservation was “green” and sustainable;

  • Supported the cultural and ethnic diversity of the preservation movement;

  • Involved properties that utilized various federal or state tax incentive programs;

  • Exemplified creative examples of saving a historic building;

  • Represented superior examples of preserving or restoration of interiors;

  • Exhibited outstanding technical proficiency or innovation;

  • Represented new design that is appropriate to historic neighborhoods;

  • Met high standards of preservation; and 

  • Responded to neighborhood input.
