Wedding & Event Rental

Thank you for your interest in the Pitot House as a site for your special event. The Pitot House and grounds can accomodate a variety of events - weddings, receptions, dinners, cocktail parties, or any special occasion. The maximum capacity of the site is 300. The ground floor of the building alone, using the lower gallery spaces and indoor rooms, can accommodate up to100 people depending on the type of event and the set-up. Seated capacity on the ground floor will vary. Viewing of the ground floor rooms is recommended to determine seated accommodation.

About the Pitot House: Built in 1799 on historic Bayou St. John, the Pitot House is a witness to centuries of New Orleans history. Families thrived in this house, the Cabrini Sisters used it as a convent, and preservationists have loved it for all of its historical context and architectural beauty.  Home to New Orleans’ first American Mayor, the Pitot House is one of the few colonial West Indies style houses left in Louisiana and features a beautiful parterre garden reminiscent of the 19th century. Today it functions as a house museum, the headquarters for Louisiana Landmarks Society, and as a destination for field trips, exhibitions, and celebrations. The house is conveniently located within walking distance of the Canal Streetcar, City Park, and the New Orleans Museum of Art. Also nearby is the Lafitte Greenway, which connects cyclists from the French Quarter to the heart of Mid-City on the bayou.
