CALL FOR NOMINATIONS Preservation Awards 2024
LOUISIANA LANDMARKS SOCIETY IS NOW ACCEPTING ONLINE NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2024 AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE IN HISTORIC PRESERVATION. THE AWARDS HONOR PROJECTS COMPLETED IN 2023 IN ORLEANS PARISH, INCLUDING THE FRENCH QUARTER, THAT REPRESENT OUTSTANDING EXAMPLES OF RESTORATION, REHABILITATION, OR NEW CONSTRUCTION IN AN HISTORIC DISTRICT.
There is $100 submission fee per project, you can pay online. Deadline is Midnight on March 1, 2024.
The awards will honor projects completed in 2023 in Orleans Parish, including the French Quarter, which represent outstanding examples of restoration or rehabilitation of historic buildings, as well as new construction. The project should rise to a level of excellence in areas which:
· Demonstrate that historic preservation can be a tool to revitalize older neighborhoods;
· Show that historic preservation is “green” and sustainable;
· Support the cultural and ethnic diversity of the preservation movement;
· Involve properties that utilize various federal or state tax incentive programs
· Exemplify creative examples of saving a historic building;
· Represent superior examples of preserving or restoring historic interiors;
· Exhibit outstanding technical proficiency or innovation;
· Represent new design that is appropriate to historic neighborhoods;
· Meet high standards of preservation; and
· Respond to neighborhood input.
